The battle continues, with the aberrations growing more and more horrifying. =OBSERVATION: GREATER DEGREE OF ABNORMALITY WITH RESPECT TO OUR EXPERIENCE IF THEY HAD NOT DONE SO= The old mage-thing erupts in shadowy tentacles, which also coalesce to form a new beast-thing. We continue to devastate their ranks, eventually leaving the elf-thing unconscious and the mage-thing escaped, but marked. By me. =CHASE PROTOCOLS INITIATED= Following the echo of my mark, Skye and I pursue the fleeing creature, while Drizzle goes for help from the watch and Zakar and Tani tie up our current captive for later questioning.
The chase goes well*=ERROR: POST EVENT ANALYSIS OF BYSTANDER FACIAL EXPRESSIONS INDICATES EXTREME STRESS AND FEAR=. Skye and I catch up to the aberration and intend to neutralize it, but Skye goes too far and disembowels the creature. *=DISCOMFORTING PLAN PARAMETER VIOLATION. IT WAS NOT EXPECTED TO DO THAT. SIGNS OF EXTERNAL COMPULSION DETECTED.= The poor timing of its failure to control itself is exacerbated by the sudden arrival of Drizzle in a skycoach of the city watch. They react poorly to our current situation, with the body lying on the ground and Skye’s blade soaked in its ichor.
After some tense discussion, Skye and I surrender to the watch and catch a ride on their skycoach, along with the mage-thing’s body. During the course of the ride, Drizzle convinces the guards to give us a 24 hour reprieve before coming in for questioning, although it is unable to secure our full release =SURPRISE AT IT GETTING AS FAR AS IT DID WITH THE WATCHMEN= We return to our inn to plan our next move, which now includes preventing our arrest and imprisonment for killing a monster.
During these events, Zakar and Tani wisely stay out of sight, meeting us back at the inn with the elf-thing so that we can interrogate it. The first item of note that we find on it is some trick paper, which Drizzle activates. Unsurprisingly, it is a list of names and descriptions, including Skye, Zakar and myself, as well as an “unnamed gnome”. Once more, they seek us.
=WE NEED TO GIVE THEM REASON TO STOP LOOKING=
